What are passkeys?
Passkeys are a replacement for passwords. A password is something that can be remembered and typed, and a passkey is a private-public key pair stored on one’s devices, unlocked with biometrics or a device PIN.
Supported Devices
You can create passkeys on the following devices
A laptop or desktop that runs at least Windows 10, macOS Ventura, or ChromeOS 109
A mobile device that runs at least iOS 16 or Android 9
iPhones, iPads and Macs using the same Apple ID (synced automatically)
Passkeys created on a Mac and synced to an iPhone and/or iPad via iCloud Keychain can be used in all the places listed above under “iOS or iPadOS”
Passkeys created in Windows can be used on:
the same Windows device that created them
Passkeys created on a Security Key can be used on:
any device compatible with the security key, connected using NFC, BLE, or USB
Create and manage multiple passkeys with Locker
You can create and manage multiple passkeys for any device you own to log in to Locker instead of using a password and 2-factor authentication. The Locker web app allows you to do it simply.
Create a passkey
Go to id.locker.io on web browser, and log in to your account if requested. Or log in to the Locker Mobile app, tap Menu > Settings > Login with passkeys.
Click the Security tab and choose Log in with passkeys.
On the Log in with passkeys screen, click the Create passkey button.
You will see a popup appear, requesting you to create a passkey. Choose the available option that you want to create the passkey with.
For example, on Windows 10 or above, you can create a passkey with Windows Hello, a security key, or using another phone or tablet.
Create a passkey with Windows Hello
Choose Windows Hello or external security key > choose Fingerprint or PIN.
Scan your fingerprint or enter device PIN to confirm.
Create a passkey with a security key
If you own a security key and have already connected it with your computer (via BLE or USB), you can create a Locker account with your security key.
Choose Windows Hello or external security key > choose Security key and click OK.
Scan your fingerprint or enter security key PIN to confirm.
Create a passkey with a another phone or tablet
You can also choose to create and save your account credentials and passkey on a mobile phone or tablet you own.
Choose Use a phone or tablet. Then use your phone or tablet to scan the QR code appear on your computer screen.
On your phone or tablet, scan your face, fingerprint or enter device PIN to confirm.
You are all set! Now you can log in to Locker with your passkey.
View your created passkeys
Locker allows you to create multiple passkeys on any device and manage them. To view the passkeys, go to id.locker.io, click the Security tab > choose Log in with passkeys. You will see a list of your created passkeys, including:
The device the passkeys were created on
The created time
The last time the passkeys were used
Delete a passkey
If you don’t want to use a passkey to log in on any device, you can remove it. Follow the steps below:
Go to id.locker.io on web browser, and log in to your account if requested.
Click the Security tab and choose Log in with passkeys
On the list of passkeys, click the Remove icon of the passkey you want to remove.
If you previously registered your account with a passkey, when you remove the last or your unique passkey, you will be asked to create a password to log in to your account instead of passkeys.
On the popup appearing, enter a new password and re-confirm the new password.
Then click Save changes to create the password for your account and delete the passkey.
