In Locker, a security key can be used to replace a Master Password. Using a security key to sign in eliminates the need for users to remember Master Password and provides users with stronger security.

Turn on Passwordless Unlock

1. Log in to the Locker desktop app.

2. In the left navigation bar, click on Settings, then select Security.

3. In the Passwordless Unlock section, click the Enable Passwordless Unlock button.

4. You will see a pop-up window asking you to enter your Master Password. Enter your Master Password and click the Confirm button.

5. You will see a pop-up window asking to set up Passwordless Unlock.

6. Connect the security key you want to add to the computer using the USB or BLE port, select the key and click the Continue button. (If you don't see the key appear on the screen, click the Reload list button again).

7. Scan your fingerprint, or enter the key’s PIN code to authenticate. Note: You need to verify the key twice.

8. After successfully authenticating your key, you will be logged out of your account. Log in again, and unlock your account using your security key instead of your Master Password.

Unlock vault using a security key

On the desktop app

1. Open the Locker desktop app, and connect the hardware security key to the computer using the USB or BLE port.

2. On the login screen, enter Email and password (or passkey) and click the Continue button.

3. In the device list, select your key and click the Continue button.

4. Scan your fingerprint, or enter your device's PIN to authenticate.

5. Successfully unlocking, you will be navigated to your Locker vault.

On the web browser

1. Open Locker's login page in the browser, and connect your security key to the computer using USB or BLE port.

2. On the login screen, enter Email and password (or passkey) and click the Continue button.

3. The browser requires opening the desktop app to continue. Click the Open desktop app button.

4. The desktop app and web app display the same 6-digit OTP code, asking you to confirm to continue unlocking.

5. Click the Confirm button on the desktop app, then click the Confirm button on the web app.

6. The web app displays the list of security keys. Select your key and click the Continue button.

7. Scan your fingerprint, or enter your key's PIN for authentication.

8. Successfully unlocking, you will be navigated to your Locker vault.

On the mobile app

1. On the Locker desktop app or web browser, open Settings > Security > Passwordless Unlock on mobile. Click on the Scan QR code button.

2. Open the Login screen on the Locker mobile application.

3. On the login screen, enter Email and password (or passkey) and tap the Continue button.

4. The mobile screen will display a 6-digit OTP code. Enter this OTP code into the desktop app and click Continue.

5. A QR code will appear on the desktop app. On your phone, press the Continue button and scan the QR code on the screen.

6. Successfully unlocking, you will be navigated to your Locker vault on mobile.

Synchronize cross-platform login on the same computer

Turn on login sync

When login sync is enabled, if you sign in on the desktop app, your account will be signed in to the web app on the same computer and vice versa. You also don't need to authenticate your security key when you access your account again on that computer.

Log in after sync

On the desktop app

Open the desktop app and click on the Unlock button. You will be redirected to your account without re-authenticating with a hardware key.

On the web app

1. Access the Locker app on the browser.

2. At the login screen, you are asked to confirm login with the computer application using the paired OTP code. Click the Open desktop app button.

3. The desktop app and web app display the same 6-digit OTP code, asking you to confirm to continue logging in.

4. Click the Confirm button on the desktop app, then click the Confirm button on the web app.

5. Successfully confirming the code, you will be redirected to your vault.

Add backup security keys

You can add security keys to unlock your Locker account in case you lose access to your primary key.

Turn off Passwordless Unlock

1. Log in to the Locker desktop app.

2. In the left navigation bar, click on Settings, then select Security.

3. In the Passwordless Unlock section, click the Disable Passwordless Unlock button.

4. You will see a pop-up window, asking for authentication.

5. Connect your security key to the computer using a USB or BLE port, then select the key and click the Continue button. (If you don't see the key appear on the screen, you can click the Reload list button).

You can either use your primary key or backup keys.

6. Scan your fingerprint, or enter the hardware key’s PIN code to authenticate.

7. You will see a pop-up asking to create a new Master Password. Create and confirm the password, and click the Confirm button.

8. If you successfully turn off Passwordless Unlock, you will be logged out of your account. You can now re-log in using your Master Password.
