Encryption Keys
Another component of the Two-secret Key Derivation process, the Encryption Key is generated when a user creates a Locker account. Unlike the Master Password, which is singular and memorized by the user, many Encryption Keys are created and used throughout the encryption and decryption processes when accessing information as well as backing up data on Locker’s servers. The interdependent yet separate relationship between Encryption Keys and the Master Password ensures the independence and high security of both data and secret keys. The image below shows an example of a generated encryption key.
