What is Master Password?

Master Password is the only decryption key that unlocks your data Vault. It is the ONLY password you need to remember, and you are the ONLY person who knows it. A strong Master Password should meet these requirements:
  • At least 12 characters long.
  • Includes uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

Tips to avoid losing data if you forget your password

Because Locker uses a zero-knowledge security model, we cannot recover your password for you. Consider the following precautions:
  • Set up a password hint: Locker will send an email containing your hint to help you recall your password.
  • Add an emergency contact: Users on the Premium plan can grant a trusted contact access to their Vault in case of an emergency.

Change your Master Password

You can change your Master Password at any time as long as you still remember your current one.

Open Settings

In the Locker Web Vault, click Settings in the left navigation bar.

Select Change Password

On the Account page, click the Change Password button (next to the Edit Info button).

Enter your information

The system will navigate you to the password change page. Enter:
  • Current password
  • New password
  • Confirm new password

Complete the change

Click Save Changes. The system will automatically log you out, and you will need to log back in with your new password.
